The functions, duties and powers of the Council shall be as follows:-
(a) To provide instructions to ministries and other agencies as needed to include issues related to environment and climate change in an integrated manner in long-term policies, plans and programs. (b) Formulating policies for the development of a national system for pollution control, waste management and protection of national heritage (c) Providing necessary policy guidance to the provincial and local levels in environmental protection and climate change related work (d) To manage the economic resources related to environmental protection and climate change and to facilitate the same (e) To guide the Ministry for the management, development and conservation of natural cultural and physical resources and heritage (f) Evaluating actions related to environmental protection and climate change.
